Red Dot Award to Finom

Red Dot Award to Finom

Finom wood lamp, designed by Interior Architect Esa Vesmanen, has won the esteemed international Red Dot Award: Product Design 2016.

The basis of the design of the Finom lamp is in the natural flexibility and translucence of wood. Thin birch veneer and sawn ash wood are the materials used in the lamp. Its translucent light is warm and soft. The lamp’s entire life cycle is designed according to the principles of sustainable development. At Habitare Trade Fair, the lamp was awarded the Finnish Ecodesign Award 2014.

The lamp is manufactured in Finland by fine carpentry using the newest technology. “Finland is known for high quality wood materials and we also have excellent woodworking knowhow. The long-term design work of the lamp and the awards given to it strengthen our faith in the significance of good design. We can process wood into beautiful, ecological and desirable export products. Meanwhile, the value of wood as material is multiplied”, Esa Vesmanen points out.

The sought-after Red Dot Award (http://en.red-dot.org) is considered the hallmark of high-quality design. A total of 5,200 products from 57 countries were entered in the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2016. A jury consisting of 41 independent experts assessed entries in 31 different categories.

The lamp is manufactured by the Vesmanen brothers. Esa Vesmanen / Pure Design Ltd. is in charge of design and Jukka Vesmanen / Innoite Ltd. manages the production. The lamps are assembled at the Iiris Pro center for the vision impaired.
